Self-help is central to the work we do.
People who join LATCH are expected to meet regularly with their support worker or volunteer supervisor who will work with them identifying any needs and aspirations that they may have.
Our aim is to encourage people to take responsibility for making positive life choices so that they can lead healthier, more fulfilling and productive lives. We are able to do this by offering volunteering and training opportunities. We also encourage people to take part in other LATCH activities, such as social events, visits and outings.
One of our provisos for being accepted for housing is the expectation that new and prospective tenants should undertake between 6 – 10 days volunteering. Completion of the volunteer days should be achieved no later than the first 6 months of their tenancy start date.
