LATCH is a Collective. What does this mean?

We refer to LATCH as a 'collective' because there is no manager or 'boss'. All 6 members of staff share an equal responsibility in the day to day running of LATCH and it's work. We want people to recognise the value of working as a management team whereby skills, responsibility and decision-making is shared between us. This means that we have to be a strong team, willing to support each other, as well as being able to resolve our differences without a major fallout.

When the time comes for us to recruit a new member of staff, we try to make sure that all possible new staff members share our preference for 'collective working'. Working as a collective is one of the things that makes us different to an ordinary supported housing project or housing association.

LATCH Management Committee

To make sure we are managing LATCH's finances properly and within the law, we need to have a management committee. These are made up of 10 - 12 members who have a range of expertise in housing, community work, law, social work and manual trades. The committee meets once every 2 months to discuss LATCH. There are also places on the committee for 2 tenants and 2 volunteer representatives. If you would like to know more about this or would be interested to attend a meeting, you can discuss this with any member of staff.
