Supported Housing

Are you homeless or living in difficult housing circumstances? Are you between the ages of 18 and 64? Then Latch may be your solution.

We have a range of quality one, two and three-bedroom properties to rent – each fully furnished and equipped with everything you’ll need to make a fresh start.

To apply for a property, you must be willing to commit to our 12-month support programme. Please see our supported housing eligibility criteria to see if our services would be suitable for you.

Closure of our One Bed Property Waiting List

Unfortunately we have a long waiting list for one-bed properties so we are not taking any more applications at present. We will update the Latch website when the waiting list is open again.

We encourage people who are looking for 1 bed properties to take the following action:

  • Register an application with the local authority in order to place property bids with Leeds Homes
  • Present yourself at Housing Options, 2, Great George Street, LS2 8BA if in need of emergency accommodation or further housing information
  • Contact Housing Associations and Private Landlords

What is the Latch support programme?

Think of it as your stepping-stone to a new way of life.

You’ll have your own Latch support worker, who will help you move in to your new home and ensure you have all the assistance you need while you get yourself settled.

In return, we’ll expect you to make positive changes in your life, to look after your home and be a good neighbour, to pay your bills and do all the things you agree to do.

If you can commit to that, we’ll be able to support you every step of the way until you’re ready to move on to bigger and better things!

Latch’s supported housing is a stepping stone to independent living. Tenants are encouraged to stay with Latch for no longer than 3 years and will be supported to move on to independent accommodation.

Leah & Jamie’s story

Leah had experienced many years of physical and mental abuse from her husband and was referred to Latch from Leeds Women’s Aid. Leah wanted a safe home and a fresh start for her five year old son, Jamie.

Following a successful support assessment Leah and Jamie are now housed in one of our fully furnished homes. This summer, both Leah and Jamie thoroughly enjoyed a sunny day out with Latch in Scarborough. Leah is working really well with her support worker on building confidence, budgeting, managing her mental health and accessing family support for Jamie. Now they have a place to call home they can start to look forward to life again.
