Supported Housing

Are you homeless or living in difficult housing circumstances? Are you between the ages of 18 and 64? Then Latch may be your solution.

We have a range of quality one, two and three-bedroom properties to rent – each fully furnished and equipped with everything you’ll need to make a fresh start.

To apply for a property, you must be willing to commit to our support programme. Please see our supported housing eligibility criteria to see if our services would be suitable for you.

One Bed Flats

Unfortunately we have a limited number of one bed properties so we don’t operate a waiting list. We will update this page when flats become available and will give a short period to apply. If you meet our criteria for housing but are not housed by us we will keep your application on file for 6 months.

Two and Three Bed Homes

If you are looking for a two or three bed home then you can apply at any time. Your application will be assessed to see whether you meet our criteria for housing, and if so you will be offered an assessment of your support needs. If you have support needs you will be added to the waiting list for when a property becomes available.

We encourage people who are looking for housing to take the following action:

  • Present yourself at Housing Options, 2 Great George Street, LS2 8BA if you are homeless, in need of emergency accommodation, further housing information or to register with Leeds City Council for housing
  • Contact Housing Associations and Private Landlords
  • If you’re aged 16-24 you can contact Flagship Leeds about housing
  • If you’re at risk of becoming homeless or need help with your tenancy you can contact Engage Leeds, a city-wide visiting housing support service

What is the Latch support programme?

Think of it as your stepping-stone to a new way of life.

You’ll have your own Latch support worker, who will help you move in to your new home and ensure you have all the assistance you need while you get yourself settled.

In return, we’ll expect you to make positive changes in your life, to look after your home and be a good neighbour, to pay your bills and do all the things you agree to do.

If you can commit to that, we’ll be able to support you every step of the way until you’re ready to move on to bigger and better things!

Latch’s supported housing is a stepping stone to independent living. Tenants are encouraged to stay with Latch for no longer than 3 years and will be supported to move on to independent accommodation.

Leah & Jamie’s story

Leah had experienced many years of physical and mental abuse from her husband and was referred to Latch from Leeds Women’s Aid. Leah wanted a safe home and a fresh start for her five year old son, Jamie.

Following a successful support assessment Leah and Jamie are now housed in one of our fully furnished homes. This summer, both Leah and Jamie thoroughly enjoyed a sunny day out with Latch in Scarborough. Leah is working really well with her support worker on building confidence, budgeting, managing her mental health and accessing family support for Jamie. Now they have a place to call home they can start to look forward to life again.
